Golf clubs vary enormously in how seriously they take junior development - some have a thriving, well-resourced junior program with dedicated coaching times, while others treat junior members as an afterthought. A bit of research before committing can save a lot of frustration later.
Ask About the Junior Program Directly
Find out whether there's a dedicated junior coordinator or coach, how many juniors are currently active, what age groups are catered for, and how often junior-specific clinics or competitions run. A club with a genuinely active junior cohort will usually be happy to talk about it in detail - vague or hesitant answers are worth noting.
Check Practice Facility Access
Ask specifically whether juniors can use the practice range, chipping and putting greens without needing to book a full round, and whether there are junior-specific time slots (some clubs restrict junior play during peak weekend times, which is worth knowing upfront).
