Review Methodology

What kind of reviews these are

Every review on Golf Kids Australia is currently a specification-based assessment, not a hands-on, physically tested review. We haven't yet built a first-hand testing program - when we have, tested reviews will be clearly labelled as such, distinct from the specification-based assessments that make up the catalogue today.

A specification-based assessment is built from:

  • The manufacturer's and retailer's own published specifications (materials, sizing, included components, price).
  • Independent research into what actually matters for a junior golfer at that age, height and skill level - not just a rewrite of marketing copy.
  • Comparison against other products in the same category we've assessed, for relative value and fit.

We do not fabricate a testing experience, invented anecdotes, or claims about how a product “felt” in use - if we haven't used it, we don't say we have.

How the rating is calculated

Each review's overall rating (out of 5) is the average of up to seven sub-scores, each also out of 5, so the number is never a single unexplained figure:

  • Junior fit & weight: How well the product's stated sizing (age/height range, club length, weight) suits the junior golfers it's aimed at.
  • Forgiveness & ease of use: Based on the product's design category and stated features (e.g. oversized clubheads, wide soles) known to help beginners.
  • Build quality: Based on stated materials and construction, and brand reputation where relevant.
  • Adjustability / useful lifespan: Whether the product can grow with the child (adjustable length, modular set) or is a fixed, one-stage fit.
  • Set composition: For sets: whether the clubs included make sense for a beginner or developing junior golfer (not padded with rarely-needed clubs).
  • Value for money: Price relative to what's included and to comparable products we've assessed.
  • Australian availability: Whether the product is genuinely and currently available to buy from an Australian retailer.

We're aware that specification-based ratings can end up clustered in a narrow range when a product category is broadly similar - we're working through the existing catalogue to make sure every rating is genuinely earned against this rubric, not defaulted to a similar number out of convenience.

Pricing and availability

Prices and stock status are checked at the time a review is written or updated, then can go out of date as retailers change pricing or stock - always confirm current price and availability on the retailer's own site before buying.

Corrections

If you spot something inaccurate or outdated in a review - wrong specification, discontinued product, superseded model - let us know via the contact pageand we'll investigate and correct it.
