PGF Future Star JWS Iron - Ages 9-12

Specification-based assessment. This isn't a hands-on, physically tested review - it's researched from the manufacturer's and retailer's published specifications, plus independent research into junior golf fit and use. See our review methodology for how ratings are calculated.

The budget way to fill an iron gap in a junior bag: $39.99 per club, three genuinely useful lofts, and one of the very few left-handed junior iron options sold individually in Australia.

This review is based on the manufacturer's or retailer's published specifications and pricing - not a hands-on test by our team. We haven't physically tested this product yet.

Who it suits

Parents whose 9-12 year old has a part-set with a hole in it - the lost 7 iron, the missing wedge - and who don't want to pay PING single-iron prices to fix it.

Specifications

  • Lofts: 7 iron, 9 iron, Sand Wedge (chosen at purchase)
  • Fusion-formed graphite shaft, junior flex; junior-sized colour-coded grip
  • Junior Weight Specific (JWS) construction
  • Right- or left-handed

Strengths

Three well-chosen lofts cover the clubs juniors most often need to add: a mid iron to learn full swings, a short iron for approaches and a sand wedge for bunkers and chipping. Junior-weight construction and a left-handed option at this price are rare.

Limitations

No long or mid-long irons, so it can't extend a set upward - and the build is budget-grade compared with the PING Prodi G's 17-4 stainless heads.

Value for money

$39.99 against $178.49 for the equivalent PING single iron. For a growing child, the cheaper club being outgrown hurts a lot less.

Australian availability

In stock through GolfBox at time of writing, right- and left-handed.

Verdict

Best-value single junior iron in Australia right now - and quietly one of the only ways to buy a junior a standalone sand wedge.
